The 2013 Ford Fiesta is regarded as one of the best options for shoppers who are in need of an economy car. This is because the Fiesta is built with a fun-to-drive personality, its cabin is nicely trimmed and its interior boasts of a tight build quality. Aside from that, the Fiesta comes with lively yet refined engine. The car also offers impressive fuel economy and could be had with luxurious features.

But despite of its impressive features, the Fiesta is still subjected to a lot of criticisms particularly due to the quirky behavior of its automatic transmission, for the limited rear seat and cargo space and for its audio controls that are not so intuitive. Although these downsides are quite true, Ford is still optimistic that Fiesta will emerge as one of the bestselling model in its class for this year since the vehicle offers a lot of features that many economy car buyers would love to have.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta regardless of its body style could be considered as one of the most pleasant-looking model in the segment. The sedan variant flaunts a more conservative look matched with the company's three-bar grille made of chrome. The hatchback variant on the other hand comes with a narrow grille in front and a sporty design. Both variants' exteriors are further enhanced by the upscale elements found in each of these.

For 2013, the Ford Fiesta comes with an interior design that projects a premium vibe, a characteristic which is not common among economy car models. The vehicle's cabin is dominated by metallic accents with a soft-touch dash top. In addition to this, it flaunts an interior with tight build quality and edgy styling. Aside from that, the cabin feel of the vehicle continues to improve on Titanium trim and the available Interior Styling packages make the interior environment of this subcompact feel and look more special.

Aside from its premium-looking interior, the 2013 Ford Fiesta also takes pride of the long list of electronic features offered on it. The available Sync system for example further enhances the appeal of the Fiesta to potential buyers since this allows the driver to gain access to the audio and Bluetooth phone systems through voice control. Unfortunately, the physical controls of the buttons of the Fiesta are not as intuitive compared to those that are found on the Kia Rio.

In terms of cargo space, the 2013 Ford Fiesta could be considered as competitive. The sedan version is equipped with a trunk that measures about 12.8 cubic feetand this is considered to be competitive in its class. The hatchback version of the Fiesta on the other hand offers a lesser amount of cargo space when its seat on the rear is in use. Unfortunately, the maximum cargo capacity of the Fiesta hatchback which is about 26 cubic feet falls short of what the Fit and Rio are providing since the Fiesta's seats do not fold flat on the floor.

    Performance   Handling

The 2013 Ford Fiesta is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine which is capable of producing a maximum power output of up to 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a standard 5-speed manual transmission or to an optional 6-speed automated manual transmission which is known as the "PowerShift". This "automatic" transmission is still doing the shifting, but this is good in maximizing the power generated by the engine and the vehicle's efficiency compared to what the conventional automatic transmission does.

Based on the several performance tests conducted, the 2013 Ford Fiesta which is equipped with the manual transmission accelerated from zero to 60 miles per hour in 9.5 seconds, an average time for its class. The PowerShift-equipped version on the other hand did the same in 10.6 seconds.

    Fuel Economy

Regardless of the transmission used, the 2013 Ford Fiesta which is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine obtained the EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 29 miles per gallon in the city, 39 miles per gallon on the highway and 33 miles per gallon combined. Opting for the Super Fuel Economy (SFE) package increases the highway rating 40 miles per gallon, but the other figure remain the same.
