    Overview

The 2012 Honda Fit is considered as one of the most popular subcompact cars in the market. This is because the 2012 version of the Fit provides a lot of impressive features such as the versatile cabin, excellent external visibility, a very spacious rear seat, and relatively larger cargo room. Although this vehicle is no longer considered as the only choice for buyers who are searching for well-rounded subcompact car the 2012 is still considered as the leader in its class.

But despite of the positive features that are found on the 2012 Honda Fit, this vehicle is still subjected to criticism. In fact, most of the vehicle's critics would usually point out some of the Fit's downsides particularly the sluggish acceleration of the model which is equipped with the 5-speed automatic transmission, not so impressive fuel consumption, and the absence of height adjustment on the driver's seat when they are trying to create their own reviews for this model.

    Exterior

The exterior design of the 2012 Honda Fit is one of the vehicle's best assets. This is because the latest version of the Honda Fit looks attractive and its overall exterior styling is very much eye-catching. Its voluptuous body structure makes the Fit look more tamed and practical. But aside from the impressions provided earlier, a lot of car experts have agreed that the Fit's exterior design could actually be considered as vaguely sexy while many car buyers are viewing this vehicle as a scaled-down version of a minivan.

Although the 2012 Honda Fit has retained most of the exterior features of the previous year's model, the company's engineers and vehicle developers have implemented a few changes on the 2012 version of the Fit particularly on the Sport trim. The 2012 Honda Fit Sport has obtained a new pair of blackened headlight surrounds. Aside from that, the new Sport trim was also released into the automobile market with a newly-redesigned front grille and fascia. Due to these changes, the 2012 Honda Fit Sport trim looks more capable and its overall external aura suggests that this vehicle has a lot of impressive features to offer as opposed to its predecessor.

    Interior

The interior design of the 2012 Honda Fit flaunts a stylish layout. Although the materials used inside the vehicle is considered as mediocre, the company's interior decorators were quite successful in making the Fit's cabin look more elegant and a bit flashy.

Aside from its stylish layout, the 2012 Honda Fit is also praised for its relatively larger interior space. The vehicle offers plenty of legroom and headroom both in front and rear. Due to this, the 2012 Honda Fit is capable of comfortably accommodating two adult passengers on the rear. However, the lack of height adjustment on the Fits driver seat might pose a problem to shorter driver. Fortunately, the Fit is equipped with a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and this is very helpful in tuning the driver's driving position.

The 2012 Honda Fit is also admired for its so-called "Magic" rear seat which is a cleverly designed version of the 60/40 split seat. This is because the Magic seat could be folded in a bottom-up position and this creates a tall narrow opening. Due to this set-up, the vehicle could easily accommodate taller objects that would not fit into the vehicle in the absence of the narrow opening.

    Performance   Handling

The 2012 Honda Fit is equipped with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to either a standard 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. The vehicle's engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of up to 117 horsepower and 106 lb.-ft. of torque. Based on recent tests conducted on the existing trims of the Honda Fit, the Base model was able to sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 11seconds while the Sport model which is equipped with a manual transmission has reached 60 miles per hour in just 9.5 seconds.

When driven, the 2012 Honda Fit's 4-cylinder engine provides a lively ride combined with a very responsive steering. Due to this, the 2012 Honda Fit is currently regarded as an enjoyable vehicle to drive. In addition to this, the 5-speed manual transmission-equipped models are popular for its smoother gear-shifting mechanism. On top of these, the cabin of the current version of the Fit is more comfortable compared to its predecessor's cabin since Honda has used a lot of sound insulation to reduce the amount of road noises that are heard inside when the vehicle is running.

    Fuel Economy

The 2012 Honda Fit with a 5-speed manual transmission obtained the EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 27 miles per gallon in the city, 33 miles per gallon on the highway, and 29 miles per gallon combined. The models that are equipped with the 5-speed automatic transmission obtained the ratings of 28 miles per gallon in the city, 35 miles per gallon on the highway, and 31 miles per gallon combined.
