The 2012 Ford Fiesta is Ford Motor Company's latest entry in the subcompact car division. Since the competition in this class is quite stiff, Ford has offered the Fiesta in two body styles (sedan and hatchback) and this strategy was intended provide subcompact car buyers with additional vehicle option. Although most car experts consider the sedan version as more attractive compared to the hatchback, the latter provides some features that the former cannot.

Due to this, potential buyers are given the chance to decide as to which of the two versions would best suit their vehicle needs. Given this set-up, Ford expects that their potential customers would prefer buying the Fiesta over its competitors due to the extended number of vehicle option.

In addition to this, the Fiesta hatchback and the sedan are fully loaded with standard equipments that would surely delight buyers. Aside from that, Ford is also offering a number of vehicle packages for each model to provide its customers with more options as to how their Fiesta cars would look like when they purchase one of these.

The exterior design of the 2012 Ford Fiesta is still the same as that of the previous year's model. This is because Ford has decided to retain all of the external characteristics of the vehicle since the Fiesta is still attractive and capable of boosting the model's sales for this year.

The 2012 Ford Fiesta is currently offered as a sedan and a hatchback. Both of these body styles are attractive and Ford is quite confident that buyers would surely like vehicle's exterior appearance. Thanks to Ford's advanced body-forming technologies. The sedan bears the company's more conservative design characterized by well-trimmed lines that flows seamlessly on the car's body as well as the well-contoured structure of the vehicle. In addition to this, the Fiesta sedan is fitted with the three-bar chrome grill that provides it with a touch of class and an intimidating look.

The Fiesta hatchback on the other hand bears the narrow front grill and Ford designers have revised the vehicle's shape to make it look sportier and exciting in the eyes of buyers. This image is further enhanced by the installation of optional accessories such as the deck lid spoiler. The side marker lights that uses LED were also installed on the hatchback's front fenders has made the hatchback look more mysterious and less boring.

The interior design of the 2012 Ford Fiesta is considered as one of the best in its class. This is because the Fiesta's cabin is dominated by upscale materials. The soft-touch materials used on the vehicle's dash, the edgy styling of the cabin, and the use of metallic accents in some areas of the cabin have blended well and this made the overall appearance of the car's interior more pleasing to the eyes. Aside from the pleasing layout, the Fiesta's interior appearance was further enhanced by the abundance of electronic equipments that were installed inside the vehicle.

The 12.8 cubic feet of 2012 Ford Fiesta provides a competitive trunk space in its class. However, the maximum interior cargo space provided by the Fiesta that is about 26 cubic feet is very small compared to the Kia Soul's 53 cubic feet and the Honda Fit's 57 cubic feet. The limited cargo space inside the Fiesta was basically caused by its seats that are not foldable.

    Performance   Handling

The existing trims of the 2012 Ford Fiesta is equipped with a 1.6-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 120 horsepower and 112 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The 6-speed manual transmission is also offered as optional. With this engine, the Fiesta is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 9.5 seconds and this is similar to what the Honda Fit has obtained.

When driven, the 2012 Ford Fiesta provides a rewarding ride in its class. Although its engine is not capable of making quick accelerations, the vehicle still offers a smoother ride particularly in stop-and- go traffic. In addition to these, the Fiesta's manual transmission provides easy and precise shifting while the six-speed automatic provides a more impressive shifting.

    Fuel Economy

The fuel economy ratings of the 2012 Ford Fiesta are still the same as the ratings that its predecessor has obtained. The Fiesta that is powered by 1.6-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission obtained the estimated ratings of 29 miles per gallon in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway. The Fiesta that is powered by the same engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission on the other hand obtained the ratings of 30 miles per gallon in the city and 40 miles per gallon on the highway.
