Super Fuel Economy Package Boosts the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE’s MPG on the Highway

Ford recently confirmed that the Super Fuel Economy package that the company is currently offering on the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE was responsible for boosting the fuel economy rating of the vehicle in the highway.

Based on the information provided by the US carmaker, the Super Fuel Economy package which is presently available on the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE has successfully increased the vehicle’s fuel economy ratings on the highway to 41 miles per gallon.

Due to its increased fuel economy ratings in the highway, the Super Fuel Economy package-equipped version of the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE was able to secure a significant lead over its closest competitors particularly over the 2013 Hyundai Accent and the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic in terms of fuel consumption in the highway.

The 2013 Hyundai Accent which is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine and mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission has obtained the EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 28 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway. Thus, the fuel economy rating of the 2013 version of the Hyundai Accent on the highway falls about 4 miles per gallon compared to what the Ford Fiesta SE with the Super Fuel Economy package has achieved.

The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic which is propelled by a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission on the other hand got the EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway. Based on these figures, it is quite obvious that the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE with the Super Fuel Economy package is more fuel efficient in the highway than the Sonic.

Given these facts, Ford currently expects that the boost in the highway fuel economy rating of the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE that was provided by the said package will allow the vehicle to become more attractive to buyers particularly in the segment where fuel economy is considered as the most significant purchase consideration.
