Starting Price of the 2013 Buick Regal Hiked

The latest pricing details for the 2013 Buick Regal was finally released. Based on the information provided that was released to the public, the starting prices of all the Buick Regal variants that were included on the current lineup were relatively higher than those of the 2012 models. The increase in the prices of the Regal models might have been triggered by the improvements that Buick has done on the vehicle.

According to the latest pricing information from its producer, the 2013 Buick Regal will be sold at a starting price of $29,990 including the destination charge of $885. Compared to the price of the 2012 version, the base model of the 2013 Buick Regal is quite expensive by about $1,165.

Given the increase in price, the 2013 Buick Regal will be offered with the mild-hybrid set-up which is dubbed as the eAssist as one of the vehicle’s standard features. The eAssist powertrain combines a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and a small 15-kilowatt electric motor which is capable of producing an additional power output of 15 horsepower 79 lb.-ft. of torque. The electric motor is powered by a 115-volt lithium-ion battery. The combination of the electric motor and the gas engine produces a combined maximum power output of up to 182 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque.

The eAssist mild-hybrid setup does not only allow the Regal to produce an impressive amount of power but this is also responsible for reducing the amount of fuel consumed by the vehicle. Thus, the 2013 Buick Regal is expected to obtain the estimated mileage ratings of 25 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway.

The increase in the price of the 2013 Buick Regal was not only brought about by the inclusion of the eAssist as one of its standard features. The price increase might have been caused by the availability of additional standard features inside the vehicle’s cabin such as the heated seats made of leather, USB jack which is used for different types of audio devices, and the Bluetooth connectivity.

Given its current starting price, the 2013 Buick Regal is relatively cheaper compared to the two of its closest competitors which is the 2012 Volkswagen CC and the 2012 Acura TSX. The 2012 Acura TSX is presently sold at a starting price of $30,905 including the destination charge of $895. The price of the 2012 Volkswagen CC on the other hand starts at $31,435 including the destination charge of $825.
