General Motors finally revealed the prices of the base version of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS as well as that of the models’ top of the line version.

Based on the information from General Motors, the base version of the Sonic RS will be sold at a starting price of $20,995 which also includes the destination charge of $795.

The base version of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec 4-cylinder engine. The turbocharged engine of the base Sonic RS is capable of producing a maximum power output of up to 138 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is also mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission.

The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS which is considered as a performance-oriented car can also be had with a 6-speed automatic transmission but at a different price. The automatic version is priced at $22,280 including the shipping cost.

Given its price, the base model of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS could be considered as a more expensive option compared to some of its closest competitors such as the 2013 Honda Fit Sport, range-topping 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL, and the top-of –the-line 2013 Ford Fiesta Titanium Hatchback.

The 2013 Honda Fit Sport which is equipped with a navigation system is cheaper compared to the latest version of the Sonic RS since this is sold at a starting price of $20,480 including the destination charge of $790.

The top-of-the-line 2012 Nissan Versa 1.8 SL Hatchback on the other hand is also cheaper since the vehicle’s price starts at $19, 370. This figure also reflects the destination charge of $780.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta Titanium Hatchback could be considered as the cheapest among the four models since this is sold at starting price of $18,995 including the destination charge of $795.

Aside from its performance-oriented nature, the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS is also equipped with a number of impressive standard features such as the Black Metallic Granite paint which is considered as the premium color for the 2013 versions’ exterior, lowered as well as stiffened suspension, and a new spoiler on the vehicle’s rear.

The base 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS also obtained the rocker moldings and rear fascia, a specific grille that was exclusively designed for the RS, power sunroof, and a bright exhaust outlet. The vehicle’s cabin flaunts a Jet Black interior which includes a sporty leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, Chevrolet MyLink, and aluminum sport pedals.

General Motors is planning to start the production of the Sonic RS at the company’s Orion Assembly Center located in Michigan in the month of October this year.
