2014 Sierra and Silverado to Deliver More Power

Chevrolet has officially confirmed that the engine used on the 2014 Chevy Silverado along with the GMC Sierra and GMC Sierra Denali 1500 pumps more power and torque than any other engines that are used to power GM’s light-duty pickup truck models.

Based on the information provided by the brand in a press release that was published in its media site, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, High Country, GMC Sierra and the GMC Sierra Denali that are powered by the 6.2-liter V8 engine have just proven that they are the most outstanding light-duty pickup truck models that General Motors has in its stable since the said engine produces an impressive amount of power and torque that no other engine in the lineup could provide.

Chevrolet revealed that the 6.2-liter V8 engine that powers the Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra and the GMC Sierra Denali is capable of producing a maximum power output of up to 420 horsepower at 5600 rpm and about 460 pound-feet of torque at 4100 rpm.

The brand has also announced that such V8 engine which is available on the Silverado LTZ, Sierra SLT, Denali and High Country models also allows these vehicles to tow a maximum load of up to 12,000 pounds. This figure according to brand is not only impressive but is also considered as the best in the class.

When asked to comment about the current achievements that the new V8 model used on some of the carmaker’s light-truck models, Jeff Luke who is the current chief engineer for General Motors’ full and mid-size trucks was quoted saying that such achievements were actually among the most important outputs that his division has been working on. This is because according Luke the “power and towing capacity are the fundamental capabilities for full-size trucks.”

But aside from the 6.2-liter V8, Chevrolet confirmed that the Sierra and Silverado trucks are also powered with other engine options. In fact some of these trucks are propelled by a 5.3-liter V8 engine and capable of towing up to 11,500 pound of load. In addition to that, the Silverado and the Sierra can also be had with the 4.3-liter V6 engine that could tow a maximum load of up to 7,600 pounds.
