The 2006 Mazda B-Series has Three available engines. Two-wheel-drive models of 2006 Mazda B-Series can be had with a 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine rated for 143 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque, or a 3.0-liter V6 with 150 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. 2006 Mazda B-Series Four-wheel-drive models come standard with a 4.0-liter V6 with 207 hp and 238 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on all 2006 Mazda B-Series models, except the SE extended cabin which comes with a five-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is optional on all trim levels. 2006 Mazda B-Series Tow ratings are under 3,000 pounds with the four-cylinder and the 3.0-liter V6, while the 4.0-liter V6 has a cool 5,580-pound trailer rating.
Available as either a two-door regular cab or a four-door extended cab, the 2006 Mazda B-Series is further broken down into three basic trim levels, base, Dual Sport and SE. Base models are available as either a 2WD regular cab or an extended cab with either two- or four-wheel drive.

Standard equipment includes a tachometer, sliding rear window, AM/FM stereo and 15-inch steel wheels (16-inch on 4WD models).
The B-Series cabin has a dated feel, and unlike other contemporaries like Ford Ranger etc, the Mazda truck does not cater much to offers of options. So you cannot always make addons with leather upholstery or perhaps a premium sound system. The top-line SE trim level comes as a 4WD extended cab and features alloy wheels, air conditioning, a CD player, cruise control and power windows, mirrors and locks. However most of these features are fortunately available as options on the less expensive models and you can exercise your options here.

Antilock brakes are standard on all models. In government crash tests, the Mazda B-Series earned four stars out of five for driver and front-passenger protection in frontal- and side-impact crashes.

The 2006 Mazda B-Series may have a low horsepower rating but surely the 4.0-liter V6 gives a good  acceleration for this class and its five-speed automatic transmission is a definite success in managing the power. The 2006 Mazda B-Series could seem to be underpowered with either the four-cylinder or the 3.0L V6 engine. There is one definite plus which its small size does for 2006 Mazda B-Series as each of its models are easy to maneuver. The 2006 Mazda B-Series is a good performer off-road.
