While the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo was debuted in 2005 in Shanghai, the 2006 Detroit Auto Show was the American debut. Apparently, this Aveo is only going to share the windshield, two windows, and large sections of the body structure with the 2006 Aveo. Everything else is new for the New Year giving it a better appearance from previous years. GM's biggest surprise for the 2007 Aveo, it will be cheap. But the interior is better looking than some of its more expensive competition and even vehicles not in the same class. This is a combination vehicle from GM and Daewoo in South Korea. The 2007 Aveo will be available summer 2006 for purchase.

There will be two trim models of the Aveo, LS or LT. Several standard features for both are iPod jack in the dashboard, GM keeping up with the current trend; six-way adjustable front seats, cruise control, and tilt steering wheel. Optional features will include a sunroof, six-disc CD changer, dual heated exterior mirrors, and steering wheel controls for the cruise control and audio systems.

The 2007 Aveo will be longer, wider, and taller than its predecessors giving it a better look and appeal to drivers. The four-cylinder engine will be standard five-speed with four-speed automatic optional for those who don’t like manual controls. Power steering will be standard as well but anti-lock brakes will be optional for either model. And the Aveo will have dual-stage front air bags and side-impact airbags but no side-curtain airbags like its competition. However, GM is confident the 2007 Aveo will still get a five star safety rating for its size and weight.

Even though the 2007 Aveo is available in two trim packages, there will still be the 4-door and 5-door hatchback models. The hatchback will still look much like previous Aveo’s. But in a time when people are thinking about high gas prices and ways to combat it, the 2007 Aveo has an advantage to steal more drivers with the new look of the 4-door model. The bad thing is that GM has not announced pricing for this entry-level sedan. However, rumors say it will be about $10,000 base price and not much more with options. With its new look, the 2007 Aveo just may turn heads with those becoming more compact car inclined. Therefore, the 2007 Aveo should be a hot selling car this summer when it arrives at dealers.
