The 2007 Acura RDX is the first turbocharged car from Honda. According to some opinion and quotes "The RDX represents the forward thinking that will be seen in the next generation of Acura light trucks. The turbo engine will present be an exclusive feature in RDX but it is believed that this will spread to other vehicles in Acura and Honda models. The turbo charger technology is widely used by Subaru, Volkswagen, and Saab, harnessing more power from the 4-cylinder motors. The car has variable valve timings for improved horse power generation. The RDX is built on an all new, light-truck platform and is a small car, accommodating up to 5 passengers. Honda has engineered the RDX to blend the sporting nature with all-wheel drive performance, having the utility and versatility of a SUV. The RDX has Honda's first turbo charged engine, other than the turbo-diesels in the European market. It has a all new 2.3 liter i-VTEC turbo charged 4-cylinder engine, making 240 hp at 260 lb-ft of torque, delivering up to 70% of the torque to the rear axle. It has a 5-speed automatic transmission system with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The car has the standard Acura's Super Handling All Wheel Drive system. Two major points have been addressed with the introduction of the 2007 RDX. The first one being the car is the first SUV in the brand line-up, with only the larger MDX existing on the truck/SUV side. The second - Acura has the will to adapt its power-train philosophy in selecting the turbo charged engine for RDX. The RDX is meant to attract younger and core active individuals.
